The first Guwahati International Marathon
3 February 2027 — Northeast India's flagship running event begins here.

Why this marathon exists
The Guwahati International Marathon was created to position Guwahati as the gateway to Northeast India, on a global stage. More than a race, it's a platform built around four pillars: sport, tourism, culture, and community, bringing runners, spectators, and the city itself into one shared event.
What this event stands for
Sport
An international-standard race inviting elite athletes and everyday runners alike, built to grow into a marquee fixture on India's running calendar.
Tourism
A showcase for Assam and Northeast India as a destination, timed to bring visibility and footfall to the region.
Culture
A celebration of Assamese identity woven through the route, branding, and runner experience, from motifs to music to local partnerships.
Community
An event built with Guwahati, not just staged in it, through volunteers, local vendors, schools, and civic participation.
The gateway to Northeast India
Guwahati sits at the crossroads of Northeast India, along the banks of the Brahmaputra. It's the region's largest city and its most natural starting point for anyone discovering Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, and beyond. Running here means running through a city where river, hill, and heritage meet.
