Registrations Now Open for the Inaugural Guwahati International Marathon

Guwahati's first international marathon is here — and registrations are officially live. Here's everything runners need to know about race day, the route, and how to sign up.
Following its official launch on September 10 by Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma and cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar, the Guwahati International Marathon is now accepting registrations for its inaugural edition on February 7, 2027. Runners from India and abroad can register at guwahatiinternationalmarathon.org.
A New Milestone for Assam's Sporting Calendar
The Guwahati International Marathon marks the city's entry into the global marathon circuit, with organisers expecting around 12,000 participants across five race categories. The event is being promoted by PMG Sports LLP, with the Assam Tourism Development Corporation (ATDC) on board as State Sponsor and TOPCEM Cement as Associate Sponsor.
At the launch, Chief Minister Sarma described the marathon as more than a race — a statement of Guwahati's readiness to establish itself as a destination for sport, fitness, and sports tourism, with the potential to become an annual fixture on the city's calendar. Gavaskar, who presented Bib No. 1 to the Chief Minister in a symbolic gesture, backed Guwahati's potential to join the ranks of the world's recognised marathon cities.

The event offers something for every kind of runner:
Full Marathon — 42.195 km
Half Marathon — 21.097 km

The Route: Showcasing the Heart of Guwahati
The race starts and finishes at the historic Judges Field, taking runners past some of the city's most iconic landmarks, including Gauhati University, the Kumar Bhaskar Varma Setu, and IIT Guwahati. The course has been measured and certified by Kim Vivian, a Grade A Certified Road Race Course Measurer from Australia — ensuring the route meets international standards.
